Treatments For TMJ and Sleep Apnea

TMJ
Symptoms such as grinding of teeth, clicking, popping, pain of the joints, headaches, shoulder and neck problems can all be indicative of Temporomandibular Dysfunction or TMJ. Normally, signs of TMJ are present with little or no discomfort, “just a click or pop of the jaw”, or “tiredness” of the jaw. The earlier these symptoms are recognized, the easier it is to correct the problem before it gets to an advanced stage and becomes more difficult to adequately treat. Many of these symptoms can be cured, or reduced to a large degree, through a specialized treatment protocol. Treatment of TMJ has become a very rewarding part of our practice because patients experience such a profound increase in their quality of life.
Sleep Apnea
Dr. Niles has the distinction of being one of the few orthodontic practices in Oregon that is certified to treat problems of restricted airway and snoring during sleep. These problems are referred to as Obstructive Sleep Apnea. His association with the Sacred Heart Medical Center Sleep Disorders Program and local Neurologists facilitate referral of patients who suffer from this disease.
